Home Sweet Home

I had a great trip back home to Canada to visit my family and friends!

It was a beautiful sunny summer with days filled with freshly picked raspberries, sail boats, road trips, milkshakes and 10 bulldog puppies!

Now it's back to chilly Melbourne which is not so bad because I have a new house to decorate and lots of
Mina + Oli bags to make!!

 Some photos from the trip...

Window Farms

I really love this window farm project first developed in New York. Due to the lack of space for growing your own herbs and vegies in urban environments, they thought up a plan to utilise the window space.

The project encourages you to think up new ideas and designs that fit your space and share with the on-line community, with members all over the world.

There are how-to manuals available to download on their website Here

I have a great backyard so I can grow my vegies the old fashioned way but just  in case I ever get stuck in an apartment I'm glad to know I have options!

100 Abandoned Houses

Kevin Bauman started taking pictures as a creative outlet then it evolved into a project documenting  Detroit's abandoned houses.

Apparently there are a lot more then 100 something around the 12,000 mark.

On his website he says "Often times, the neighborhoods were almost completely abandoned. In these neighborhoods I encountered concerned citizens, packs of wild dogs, 20 foot high piles of toilets, and houses with the facades torn off, filled with garbage."

I find this so strange, haunting and fascinating! I have so many questions, most of which start with WHY?

Love love love...

I'm in love with The Shoreditch Collection by Squint!

A complete colour overdose in the best possible way!

Such great inspiration for a D.I.Y project to use up my collection of fabric remnants!

Now if i can just convince my man that he loves this much colour too!

I am very excited to say that after
a long and drama-filled house hunting experience we have a new home!

House Hunting Blues

The other day in a fleeting attempt to banish the house hunting blues I went op shopping.

I found some great leather jackets to make in to
mina + oli bags but still had the blues!

Here are my finds...

I'm not sure about this colour green?

Love this texture!!

This is the largest label I have ever seen,
it's more like an add!!

Chadwick Tyler

I have been away again house sitting.
I love having friends with great houses that I can escape to for a while!

New York photographer Chadwick Tyler is another of my favourite photographers (see Thorns post)
And I just can't get enough of his work.

His bio says that his images represent young women longing for release from the mundane.

Here are a few of my favorites..

Karen Elson

Did you know Karen Elson
is not only a model but a singer too?

She preforms with New York cabaret
The Citizens Band and now has a single out.
I quite like the song and will be buying the album that's out next month.

It must be nice to be so multi-talented! I would love to be able to sing! I have the ability to hear it in my head and it sounds great but when it comes out of my mouth it's a whole other story!

I'm karaoke's worst nightmare!

Eskayel

I have always wanted to own my own house and have some feature walls covered in really cool wallpaper! Well this is who I'm buying it from...
Eskayel - Bespoke Wallpaper.
They are located in Brooklyn, and strive to create, beautiful, clever and innovative wall coverings.  Each design is extracted from original paintings by artist Shanan Campanaro.

These are a few of my favourite crazy fun prints...
