Mina + Oli Handbags Still Available!

The market was a success!
Over $500 raised! Yippie!

A big thank you for everyone who came out on the super hot day.

I donated the rest of my handbags to Ingrid
and they can be found on her online Madeit store

Of course we could not pass up this gorgeous little kitten when we went to Ingrid's Haven to donate the profits from the market.

This is the lovely post on Ingrid's Facebook page...

Ingrid's Haven
We had a very nice visit from Laura today, the lady who sold handbags recently for the Haven and raised a huge amount of money for the cats. Not only money, Kylie and I were treated to lunch and then little picture postcard kitten got himself a home as well. What a day and what a great start to the new year.
Laura's handbags will be for sale in the madeit shop and let me tell you, the handiwork is above class. A must have for all ladies.
I will also soon have a cat named Campbell, Cambell is the new dad, see.
Here is Laura's comment about her new family member:
This little guy has made him self right at home and has kept us in stitches with his kitten antics! Thank you Ingrid and lovely to meet you today!

We have named him Ziggy and I just can't stop taking pictures of him! Insanely cute and gives the best snuggles!

Since the materials are preloved, sometimes an aged look is expected. This adds to the bag’s charm and adds that wonderful soft worn in feel to the leather.

1940's War Time Dress

I made this Retro Butterick 1946's (B5281) dress pattern for a 1940's war time murder mystery party! I just happened to have a lovely dark green fabric just like in the envelope pic.

It was a time consuming dress. With cute little asymmetrical details, fully lined and lots of hand stitching.

I found a perfect hat on e-bay to complete the outfit. It was a winning assemble as I guessed Agent Scott's secret identity!

Hats Off To Hats!

Remember the days where a lady didn't leave the house without her hat.

Unfortunately I don't as I'm not old enough but boy I wish those days would come back! I have a few vintage hats in my collection and I'm sad to say they don't get much use. But after going to the Love Vintage Fair last weekend and seeing the amazing hats I want to change that!

Maybe I could take up the tradition of buying a new hat every year, hell lets throw in a new matching dress while we are at it!

Martha says it quite well..

"A hat is a flag, a shield, a bit of armor, and the badge of femininity. A hat is the difference between wearing clothes and wearing a costume; it's the difference between being dressed and being dressed up; it's the difference between looking adequate and looking your best. A hat is to be stylish in, to glow under, to flirt beneath, to make all others seem jealous over, and to make all men feel masculine about. A piece of magic is a hat." (Martha Sliter)

My favourite hats were from Circa Vintage Hats who imports original vintage hats from New York, Chicago and Paris

I was also excited to discover Julie Fleming who makes the most beautiful vintage styled hats and hosts classes where you can learn how to
make your own hats.

On my wish list it goes!

Frida Kahlo's Closet

Frida Kahlo's clothing is on display at
The Frida Kahlo Museum
in Mexico City until November 22, 2013.

The braid, the flowers, the monobrow, the long skirts...
her look is so unique.

Go to a dress up party as Frida and if no one knows who you are they have been living under a rock!

Wish I was in Mexico to see it.
